THIS IS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT.
Our rescues are looking for FOREVER HOMES.
If you would consider rehoming a pet due to moving, allergies or family conflict, they and I ask that you do not adopt them - they'd like their next home to be their last.
WE HAVE A NO DECLAW POLICY.

HERE'S THE SCOOP!
There was a brief moment where there were no cats at our city shelter that needed us. We had the means to help, so I began looking around kill shelters in other states to find a kitto we could help.
I was shown Kansas Ace and it was love at first sight. He was clearly injured, terrified and he just looked like he had given up.
I placed a hold on him and the cat gals from Beauties and Beasts, Inc. helped me to get him. They picked him up from the Wichita Animal Shelter and took him to the vet. I held my breath. He had to test FIV/Felv negative in order to get a health certificate to cross state lines..... If he was positive for either, he had no choice but to be euthanized. That's just how it would be.
I waited on pins and needles and was so excited when I heard he was negative. I had been working with Daytha for almost a week to get him, so knowing he was actually finally going to be mine - I was elated.

However, we had one small hurdle left. Ace, as we named him, was set for eye removal surgery on Friday morning, and this was Wednesday evening. Ace was 6 hours one way. How would we ever get him in time to make the surgery date we booked for him a week in advance?! Leave it to the amazing #AnimalArmy to come through.
Rachelle Hurd and her husband were already flying a large crew of cats from Kansas to Colorado on Thursday and they were able to squeeze Mr. Ace onto the flight as well. A million thanks you's will never be enough.
On January 31st, our sweet Angel Ace arrived at the airport in North Platte (Thursday afternoon) and my husband chauffeured him to the vet, where he rested for enucleation and neuter the following morning.
The surgery went great! Ace's right eye was removed because it was no longer of use and needed to be taken out. At some point, he sustained an injury to that eye and it was permanently damaged and painful and would only continue to cause complications, so the vet recommended removal. It was removed quickly and with absolutely no issues. He was bandaged and spent the weekend on pain meds and kennel rest.
On the following Monday, Ace was released from the vet and joined us here at the Fur the Love of PAWS FURcility. We've had Ace for a month, now. He is an amazing cat that has absolutely without a question of a doubt, had a really tough life.
Ace struggled to find food, and mostly water, on the cold winter streets of Kansas. Because of this, his poor kidneys took a huge toll. His values were so extremely elevated, he was quite close to kidney failure. But over the last month, we have helped Ace get the nutrients and hydration he desperately needed to help kick start his kidneys into recovery. His values are going down and he is improving day by day. He used to drink and drink and drink and drink. He still likes his water, but his desperation to hydrate is diminishing. He loves his special Ace food (Science Diet K/D) and his "happy kidney" daily supplement. Over all he is doing absolutely fantastic and has been cleared by the vet to go up for adoption!

FAMILY GOALS!
Ace is still adjusting to his life as indoor, pampered pet. He honestly just loves being in his Suite, being warm and not having to fight to find food and water and safety. He loves crocheted blankets

He will play a little but his favorite thing to do is just sit by you and be pet. He loves to be loved. He asks for nothing but food, a bed and someone to care.

He likes his rope and cardboard scratchers and will bat around stuffed mice for a bit. He loves to look out the window from his nice warm nook. He isn't super duper social so won't demand a ton from you. Once he realizes he is "home", he will settle in and be forever grateful.

Ace is fine with kids. He doesn't feel comfortable being held though.

Ace is good with cats but previously was bullied so needs some extra time to adjust. He is scared, not aggressive.

Ace is OK with dogs, just scared at first.
Ace is litter trained.
Ace is on a special diet called K/D for both dry and wet. He also gets a kidney booster supplement once a day.
